Potential Support for Journalists Targeted by Law Enforcement

Potential Support for Journalists Targeted by Law Enforcement

For immediate release: June 8, 2020

Dear supporters and readers,

Journalists targeted by law enforcement as part of the protests in the U.S. and who may want to file a civil rights lawsuit: there is support for your request! Our legal partner has offered to connect with journalists on a pro bono basis (so at no cost to you) who may want to file a civil rights lawsuit. There would need to be a screening process that the law firm does to determine if the claim has merit before any agreement to represent a journalist is entered into, but there is strong interest in holding appropriate parties accountable. In particular, we're focused on spreading the message to historically under-resourced journalist communities including Black journalists, journalists of color, and freelancers/contractors. Feel free to pass along the message to your networks and get in touch with us through this form or via email, team [at] onlinesos [dot] org. We'll connect you to our partner!
